1984 in Los Angeles Fraser was a deputy sheriff for Washtenaw County, Michigan as he prepared for the '84 Olympic Games. Around his work schedule, he won the Olympic Trials, and then went on to win the first gold medal for the United States in Greco-Roman Wrestling, defeating the 3-time world champion Frank Anderson of Sweden.

Steve Fraser joined USA Wrestling as the National Greco-Roman Head Coach leading his athletes to 27 Olympic and World medals, and the World Team Title in 2007. This includes the gold medal won by Rulon Gardner in his upset victory over "The Unbeatable" Alexander Karelin in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Aside from his coaching career with USA Wrestling, Steve continues to support the sport of wrestling as founder and owner of US Camps. US Camps is committed to offering summer wrestling clinics to the youth of America.

Steve Fraser is also a professional motivational speaker and takes the lessons learned from his Olympic journey through his Gold Medal Presentations and Mental Toughness Workshop.
